What is National Radiation Protection Professionals Week
Each year, the CRCPD
and HPS join forces
with the radiation protection community to gain
recognition
and support for the field. Celebrated during the
week of
November 7-13, 2010
encourages community
members to take pride in their profession - recognizing
their colleagues for their hard work and promoting radiation
protection practices to the public.
National Radiation Protection Professionals Week allows
employers to take a proactive role in the advancement of the
field. From advances in medicine, environment, industry and
security, radiation protection professionals have made us a
safer and healthier, while continuing to support
technological advancements.
It is up to us to educate others on these major
radiation protection and safety activities.
Why National Radiation Protection Professionals
Week. . .
More than ever, it is important that we educate others
(citizens, employers, and even politicians) on the scope of
skills and abilities needed by radiation protection
professionals and the important role played by these unsung
heroes.
National Radiation Protection Week is a time to express
your appreciation to your colleagues and employees; and to
display your support and dedication to the field.
What you can do . . .
Although the possibilities are virtually endless, here are
some ideas to help you educate, celebrate, and recognize
those people who promote safe use of radiation.
- Post National Radiation
Protection Professionals Week posters around your office
and distribute informational pamphlets (such as What is
a Radiation Protection Professional?) to staff,
management, clients and local schools.
- Hold a staff
appreciation lunch and distribute items of appreciation.
- Create a forum where
people can discuss radiation protection professional
recent advances in technology.
- Invite clients,
citizens, management and or public servants to tour
facilities where beneficial
use of radiation is present!
The theme for National Radiation Protection Professionals
Week varies from year to year, but the fuel is always the
same: pride in what radiation protection professionals have
done to make the world a better place to live.
