State radiation control programs receive many requests for information suitable for school children.  These requests come in all forms: children sending in requests for information, teachers asking for a “guest speaker” for a science lesson, administrators asking for a representative for career day, parents looking for a spiffy demo for a science project.  While we all want to do a good job fulfilling these requests, it is difficult to pull together accurate information that is interesting and engaging for children.  The problem is compounded since there are very different learning styles and information needs for each age group.

The web addresses listed provide accurate information in a manner that is conducive to children’s needs.  There are additional support materials provided that can be used to help the teachers learn, too.  The Health Physics Society has been reviewing textbooks commonly used in schools and has found a number of factual errors.  The fact sheets at these web addresses may be useful in correcting misperceptions on the part of the teachers as well as the students.

The is placed at each of the links as a visual reminder that you are leaving the CRCPD website. (For more information, refer to About This Site.”)
