Charges to the G-56
Task Force |
|
Charge #1. Develop general
information brochure that describes state radiation control program
health physics positions and qualification requirements by March 1,
2007. |
| Action:
|
A brochure was
developed to be distributed to educational institutions. The brochure
includes titles used by different programs, duties and responsibilities,
minimum requirements and CRCPD information. |
|
Charge #2. Poll state programs to
determine states that have internship or summer employment and the job
duties/functions of these positions by March 1, 2007. |
| Action:
|
Questionnaires
were sent via email by CRCPD to all the state programs. 26 state
programs responded.
The work group recommends information to be posted on the CRCPD public
web site for interested individuals. Information will be linked to Human
Resources/Personnel department of the individual member states. |
|
Charge #3. Develop a salary comparison of health
physics positions between states and private industry. |
| Action:
|
There was great difficulty in obtaining salary information for the
health physics positions in the private industry. With the advise of
Thomas Cardwell, the G-56 group decided to compare salaries of state
health physics positions with the 2006 Health Physics Society’s Salary
Survey published in the Health Physics News, Volume XXXV, Number 3,
March 2007. The group decided that HPS’ Salary by Region information
would be the most useful information for this assigned charge. The
states were divided by regions as defined in the HPS Salary survey. |
|
Charge #4 Develop a list of the 378
educational institutions that were polled in attachment B to the G-56
draft report. Poll major universities that were not previously polled.
Supply a list of the universities that are polled and the responses by
March 1, 2007. |
| Action:
|
Sixteen major
universities that did not respond to the 2005/2006 poll were sent
questionnaires. In addition, 32 Nuclear Medicine and 26 Radiation
Therapy Bachelor Degree programs were polled. 43 institutions (58%)
responded. |
|
Develop a listing of websites for state radiation control
programs human resources job posting by March 1, 2007. |
| Action:
|
The
group recommends that the human resources web sites be made available on
the CRCPD public site. [The
products of the G-56 Task Force were approved for posting to the
Regulatory Forum-Ed.] |
