General Council (GC) Fact Sheet

A listing and brief description of each of the Working Groups under the General Council are below.  There is a Fact Sheet for the Environmental Nuclear Council and for each of the Working Groups within this Council.  Each Fact Sheet contains a list of the charges, how these charges relate to CRCPD's goals and objectives, and the name and email address of the chairperson.   If you need additional information on a particular working group, such as who the members, advisors and resources are, contact Sue Smith.  The Fact Sheets are accessed by clicking on the Working Group's name.

Brief Description of General Council Working Groups:

GC-EI Emerging Issues CommitteeIdentifies new environmental radiation issues, including Homeland Security issues, monitors and assimilates requests for information, provides leadership in identifying what type of publications will be developed, assists the council chair in prioritizing goals based on emerging issues that are tied to the CRCPD Strategic Plan Goals and Objectives, makes recommendations for committee or task force membership based on the member's interest in the emerging issue. 

G-02 Committee on Ionizing Measurements. Responsible for the overall implementation of the CRCPD program for the accreditation of state regional calibration laboratories. This includes the development of accreditation criteria, laboratory reviews, and recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding accreditation.

G-34 Committee on Industrial Radiography. Provides states with recommendations and guidance in the regulation of industrial radiography, and in the testing of radiographers for certification.

G-36 Liaison - Health Physics Society (HPS)/American Academy of Health Physics (AAHP). Interacts with the HPS and AAHP and promotes the exchange of information between three two organizations on areas of mutual interest.

G-50 Liaison - National Council on Radiation Protection (NCRP). Interacts with NCRP and promotes the exchange of information between the two organizations on areas of mutual interest.

G-53 - Task Force on Public Information for Radiation Protection.  Reviews and identifies applicable state radiation protection information for the purpose of communicating with the public.

G-55 - Training Committee.  The Training Committee identifies training gaps, outlines training programs for state regulatory personnel, and investigates the incorporation of radiation science and risk issues into school curricula.

G-56 - Task Force for the Enhancement of State Radiation Control Personnel.  To provide practical guidance that will address problems associated with future state staffing; central listing for employment in a radiation control program; encourage colleges and universities to add correspondence courses that will meet the needs of a radiation control program's entry level and experienced staff; and provide a listing of relevant correspondence courses available with colleges/universities.

G-58 - Task Force for the Criteria for an Adequate Radiation Control Program.  Provide a critique of the CRCPD Criteria for an Adequate Radiation Control Program by April 1, 2005.

G-61 - International Outreach and Relations Committee.   This committee is to enhance the international relationships with international partners such as the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) and ICRP (International Council on Radiation Protection).
