Charles Showalter


WHEREAS:

Charles Showalter has approximately 30 years of devoted federal service in protecting the public health and safety, and

WHEREAS:

Charles Showalter has provided invaluable assistance to state radiation control agencies, especially in the area of inspection procedures and methodologies for compliance testing of diagnostic x-ray machines; and

WHEREAS:

Charles Showalter, as FDA's resource person to the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors' (CRCPD) Committee on Quality Assurance in Diagnostic X-Ray, provided technical advice and recommendations, and in particular, provided invaluable assistance in the development of CRCPD's first manual on quality assurance in diagnostic radiology; and

WHEREAS:

Charles assisted state radiation control programs and the CRCPD in many other areas, including phantom development for the "NEXT" inspection program, state inspection protocol under the Mammography Quality Standards Act, and many other programs to assist the states;

NOW BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

Charles Showalter is hereby recognized and appreciated by the Board of Directors of the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors, Inc. for his many years as a public servant supporting the national effort to reduce unnecessary radiation exposure to patients, radiation workers and the general public, and to improve the quality of diagnostic radiographs; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:

Charles Showalter is recognized and appreciated for his strong support of, and assistance to, state radiation control programs and the Conference of Radiation Control Directors, Inc.
