BOARD OF DIRECTORS RESOLUTION
(April 7, 2005)

Jim Myers
 

Relating to: 
  
The many contributions of Jim Myers, a longtime friend of the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors, Inc. (CRCPD) through his active participation in CRCPD's G-34 Committee on Industrial Radiography activities and other issues involving state radiation control programs.

Whereas:

Jim Myers has provided information and input to the G-34 Committee on Industrial Radiography and the Part E Committee that resulted in a significant revision of Part E to include requirements such as equipment standards and industrial radiographer certification.

 Whereas:      

Jim Myers served a primary role in developing and maintaining RADRAP email discussion group, which has served as an effective communication tool for use by the state radiation control programs.  For this invaluable contribution, the CRCPD honored Jim Myers in 2003 with the CRCPD Board of Directors Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Radiation Protection. 

Whereas:      

Jim Myers served as co-chair of the National Materials Program Working Group that produced a report with significant recommendations for ways the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the state radiation control programs to interact in order to maximize the efficiency of state and federal resources concerning the regulation of radioactive materials.

Whereas:      

Jim Myers was an active participant in Integrated Materials Performance Evaluation Program reviews, which continue to be an innovative collaboration between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Agreement States.

Whereas:      

Jim Myers has been with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Office of State and Tribal Programs since 1990, and has earned the respect and admiration of working group personnel in addressing and offering whole-picture insight and solutions to radiation protection issues.

 Whereas:      

Jim Myers encouraged open communication and dialogue on the issues, and advocated for win-win situations.

Now be it resolved that:

Jim Myers will always be remembered as a special friend of the states.  The CRCPD Board of Directors recognizes and appreciates Jim Myers for his recognition of the important roles state radiation control programs and personnel play in effectively regulating radiation issues in state and federal arenas, and for his appreciation of the contributions of state radiation control program personnel, and for the value of partnering with them to accomplish radiation protection.

Be it further resolved that:

The CRCPD Board of Directors wishes Jim Myers a most pleasant, relaxing and rewarding retirement.
