Board of Directors Resolution

American College of Radiology

WHEREAS:

The CRCPD program entitled, "Nationwide Evaluation of X-Ray Trends" (NEXT), a program that has been ongoing since 1971, has proven to be an invaluable tool to measure exposures from x-ray machines; and

WHEREAS:

NEXT has provided a method to evaluate trends in x-ray exposures in the United States; and

WHEREAS:

NEXT has provided valuable data for many radiographic projections, data that has been used for the development of guidance for the x-ray user; and

WHEREAS:

Due to budget cuts, financial support for NEXT from FDA was terminated, appearing to cause the termination of this valuable program, and

WHEREAS: T

he American College of Radiology (ACR), realizing the value of NEXT in protecting the patient from unnecessary exposure, and in improving the quality of radiology in general, provided financial support of NEXT in the absence of FDA support.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

The Board of Directors, Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors, on behalf of its membership, express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the American College of Radiology for their financial support to continue this valuable program.
