Management Staff
Ruth E. McBurney, CHP, Executive
Director
Ruth
comes to CRCPD with a B.S. degree in Biology and an M.S. degree in Radiation
Sciences, and she is a Certified Health Physicist. She has been a long time
supporter of CRCPD. Ruth has served on the Board of Directors as Chairperson
and Treasurer. The treasurer is also the organization's historian, and in
that role she authored CRCPD: The First Twenty-Five Years, which was
published in 1993, the CRCPD Silver Anniversary. She has also been very active
in CRCPD working groups, including chairing several committees. She
received the Gerald S. Parker Award in 1994 and a CRCPD Board of Directors
Outstanding Achievement Award in 1987. For 2005-2006, she served as
President of the Health Physics Society, and from 1990-1994 she served on the
American Board of Physics, including serving as Chairman. Ruth's knowledge, experience, and leadership
are invaluable assets as she seeks to support state radiation control
programs and our partners dedicated to radiation protection. Ruth is
located in Austin, Texas.

Sue
Smith, Executive Office Manager
Sue manages the day-today operations of the Office of Executive Director; provides direct supervision of the onsite OED technical and administration staff; coordinates Board meeting arrangements and prepares minutes of all Board meetings and business meetings of CRCPD-sponsored meetings; manages the system for tracking and recording Board actions; maintains the working group information; provides support services to the Annual Meeting Technical Planning Committee; coordinates all facility/social events and conducts site visits for future meetings, which includes negotiating and obtaining a hotel contract for each site visit based on an extensive list of requirements. She is responsible for the publication of the CRCPD Directory of Personnel Responsible for Radiological Health Programs; travel (oversees issuance of all travel authorizations and flight arrangements); maintenance of the OED e-mail and phone system communications; administrative policies and procedures; administrative support for training and workshops. Technical Staff
Terry Devine, Ph.D.,
General Radiation Technical Assistant
Dr. Devine
is responsible for all “General Health Physics” activities of CRCPD. This
includes management of the CRCPD “National Orphan Radioactive Material
Disposition Program,” review and comment on technical documents (i.e. the SSRCRs),
the DOT exemptions for scrap and trash, and coordination of all
comprehensive reviews of state programs. Terry also updates annually the
“Directory of State Agencies Involved in Transportation of Radioactive
Material.” In addition, he also maintains information beneficial to the
radiation protection community. Examples are: Contacts for radiological
assistance with incidents, websites for radiation control program fees, a
listing of laboratory and measurement equipment resources available to states,
radioactive waste brokers and processors, disposal facilities, etc. If you need

Curt Hopkins, Radon Program Manager and Newsbrief Editor Curt assists the states, and in particular, the Committee on Radon in providing information and guidance to States in their effort to reduce elevated radon levels in homes and other buildings. He provides for coordinated Federal/State activities through a cooperative and effective nationwide approach for the transfer of technological information related to radon reduction between federal, state and local agencies. Examples are: 1) planning and executing the annual National Radon Meeting, 2) administering a mini-grant program, 3) promoting radon related information on the Radon page of the CRCPD website, 4) publishing a Web-based Radon Bulletin, and 5) maintaining a state-by-state listing of radon projects and activities. Curt’s additional tasks include activities such as CRCPD Newsbrief editor, and annual meeting exhibit coordinator. Information Transfer Staff
Lin Carigan,
Manager, Publications and Website
Lin is responsible for editing CRCPD documents, preparing them for publication, and then publishing them. She is also responsible for CRCPD's website. Lin continues to be OED’s focal point for mammography issues. This includes assisting the H-11 Committee on Mammography. Bruce Hirschler, SSRCR Publication Manager and Network
Administrator 
Bruce is
responsible for assisting committees in the development of the SSRCR. This
includes formatting, editing, publishing and distributing new or revised parts
of the SSRCR – hard copy and on the CRCPD website. Bruce has recently been
assigned the task of assisting the SSR council chairperson in monitoring the
progress of the SSR working groups to ensure more timely products. Bruce is also
responsible for keeping CRCPD current as it relates to computer technology.
This involves maintenance of CRCPD’s website, network, computers, printers,
etc. Bruce is responsible for providing valuable assistance to speakers at
CRCPD meetings with computer-based presentations and for producing the

Financial Staff
Twila
Barnett, Financial Manager
Twila’s
widely varied accounting, math, and computer skills, coupled with her
enthusiastic and hardworking attitude, have taken CRCPD to a new level of
financial performance and accountability. She provides assistance to the Executive
Director in grants and contracts management, budget preparation and analysis,
human resources, and staying current with changes in financial management

Amy Hall, Accounting Clerk
Amy is CRCPD's newest employee. Amy provides essential support for
CRCPD’s business and financial functions. She shares responsibility for many
different areas, including membership dues, travel reimbursements, processing
receipts, and paying bills. Her photograph are pending.

haron Bowen, Administrative
Assistant
Sharon
works directly for the Office Manager. Her responsibilities include
issuing travel authorization for all CRCPD travelers, providing authorization
for CRCPD travelers to use OED’s travel agency, updating the Directory of
Personnel Responsible for Radiological Health, processing membership
applications, Access database maintenance, mass mail outs of information
relative to meetings, publications, and serving as backup receptionist. Sharon
also
provides clerical support at the annual National Conference on Radiation Control
and the annual National Radon Meeting.
